Gyroscope

A gyroscope is a device for measuring or maintaining orientation, based on the principles of angular momentum.

This device is a spinning wheel or disk whose axle is free to take any orientation.

Some usage includes the popular Segway which uses Gyroscopic sensors used to detect tilting of the device which indicates a departure from perfect balance.
