Angels & Demons (Film)

Robert Langdon is summoned by CERN to investigate a murder victim, branded with the Illuminati ambigram, leading him to discover the cult's scheme to murder four cardinals and destroy St. Peter's Basilica during a papal conclave using antimatter.
John Langdon's Ambigrams would be much publicised and would be hugely popular after the release.
Much interest would be upon CERN's success in building its Large Hadron Collider on 10 Sep 2008.
Tom Hanks, Ayelet Zurer & Ewan McGregor stars. This is the most anticipated film after the tremendous success of The Da Vinci Code. The late release is mainly due to the Screen Actors Guild strike on June 30.
Deception Point & Digital Fottress are Brown's other best selling novels. The Solomon Key, the author's current novel in progress has also his fans waiting.

First Olympic gold medal for Jamaica in relay
Asafa Powell ran a sizzling anchor leg to put Jamaica across the finish line in 37.10 seconds.
Nesta Carter led off, followed by Michael Frater and Usain Bolt. It was the first Olympic gold medal in the event for Jamaica.
"I said to Asafa, 'Can we do this?' And he was like, 'Don't worry, man, we got this one,"' Bolt said.
Bolt, who set world records in winning the 100 and 200, will leave Beijing with three gold medals.

Shark Finning

Shark fin by itself is tasteless. Cooks need to add in a lot of ingredients to make the soup. It is there just for the texture.
The cruelty of shark finning is depleting the number of sharks in the world. Shark finning are irresponsible fishermen who fish the sharks from water, cut their fins and threw the shark which are still alive back in the ocean.
No Demand, No Market, No Business.

Non-Newtonian fluid
The word has since been used to describe a substance that is used as a science aid to teach children about liquids and solids. This oobleck is created from cornstarch or potato flour and water in a ratio between 2:1 and 3:2. Though initially it acts like a viscous liquid, applying pressure quickly will make it appear to be a solid for a short time. The oobleck also behaves unlike conventional solids or liquid when thrown in the air, molded, heated, or vibrated.
Oobleck readily demonstrates the dilatant effect, which means it becomes more viscous when agitated or compressed.

Happy 1st Anniversary Darling
In the afternn, we went to BP to go for Batrisha and Taufik b'days. Most of cousins aunties, uncles were there to celebrate the happy occasion and there were food and games not only for the lil kids but for the big kids as well :P
At around 5.30pm we set off to the Royal Scotts Hotel to hv our Dinner at the Carousel. It was buffet style. Setting and ambience was great, all the food were lined up as if just for us to eat, sushi, seafood, local, western and the 3 separate dessert stations
WOW!
It was an amazing experience and we were doing opposite what our gynae were telling my wifey (not to eat so much). Imagine lil BABY BOY is now at 3kg!
I really enjoy spending quality time with my wifey, as we have gone through a lot together. She is the only one who understand me completely and love me no matter what.
I Love you sayang! Happy Anniversary.

Cost Of Living (Part 1)

Big, big problem. I read a news article and support the author on wealth funds such as Temasek Holdings (Since 1974) and GIC (since 1981) to commence projects on overseas purchase of land for agriculture, aquaculture, as Singapore's needs and consumption has tremendously increased.

Favourite Movies Of All Time

1) Silence of the Lambs,
Anthony Hopkins is a well-rounded actor, his appearance all 17min of it
made him a receipient of the Oscars. The movie really captures your imagination
of what goes through the minds of a physcopath. The beginning till ending was
like a poetry-in-motion.
2) Hackers,
Imagine being a boy but have the mind to crash a Major Company. This movie is the
stepping stone to Angelina Jolie's acting credits. It also educates me of the lesser-known
world of computer programming.
3) Swordfish,
After X-Files, Hugh Jackman & Halle Berry joins forces with John Travolta. The movie
shows the independence of the storyline to be of its own and limits to its own individualistic
genre. Hoping Swordfish2 will be up and about soon...
4) The Matrix,
I never got to watch the anime, reloaded or revolutions (should see it someday). Keanu Reeves
brings a potrayal of a super-hero-like save-the-world in a world that could actually exist.
Mind-overload.

Gyroscope

A gyroscope is a device for measuring or maintaining orientation, based on the principles of angular momentum.
This device is a spinning wheel or disk whose axle is free to take any orientation.
Some usage includes the popular Segway which uses Gyroscopic sensors used to detect tilting of the device which indicates a departure from perfect balance.

Aerosmith - Dream On
Everytime that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face gettin clearer
The past is goneIt went by like dust to dawn
Isnt that the way
Everybodys got their dues in life to pay
I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know its everybodys sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Half my life is in books written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know its true
All the things come back to you
Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away
(x2)
Dream on, dream on
Dream yourself a dream come true
Dream on, dream on
Dream until your dream come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on...
Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away

Bees Disappearing

This is a phenomenon where worker bees from a beehive or western honey bee colony abreuptly disappear. This has been seen at countries like the Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, Belgium & France. The causes are not well understood. It is speculated that the causes could be due to environmental change-related stresses. malnutrition, pathogens (disease including Israel acute paralysis virus), mites, pesticides such as neonicotinoids or imidacloprid, and genetically modified (GM) crops with pest control characteristics such as transgenic maize.
There has been an error on extracting information of studies from University of Landau implying that CCD has relations to the usage of mobile phones. Thus far it has created "a horror story" in the internet media.

Five Ways To Save The World

Climate change is being felt the world over and if global warming continues to increase the effects could be catastrophic. Some scientists and engineers are proposing radical, large-scale ideas that could save us from disaster.
The first three proposed ideas featured in the film, look at reducing the power of the sun - thereby cooling the planet. The other two men in the programme want to tackle the problem of excess carbon dioxide - the cause of global warming.
(1) Professor Roger Angel from Arizona - the designer of the world's largest telescope - is proposing to put a giant glass sunshade in space. Professor Angel's sunshade will deflect a small percentage of the sun's rays back into space.
(2) Dutch Professor Paul Crutzen won the Nobel Prize for chemistry when he discovered the causes of the hole in the ozone layer. His plan is to fire hundreds of rockets loaded with tons of sulphur into the stratosphere creating a vast, but very thin sunscreen of sulphur around the earth.
(3) British atmospheric physicist Professor John Latham and engineer Stephen Salter, have designed a fleet of remote-controlled yachts. These will pump fine particles of sea water into the clouds, increasing the thickness of the clouds and reflecting the suns rays.
(4)Sydney engineer Professor Ian Jones proposes to feed plankton with gallons of fertiliser. This will make the plankton grow and absorb carbon dioxide from the air.
(5)New York-based Professor Klaus Lackner has designed a carbon dioxide capturing machine and his plan is to locate more of them across the globe. They would suck in carbon dioxide, turn it into a powder and he would bury it deep under the ocean in disused oil or gas fields.
Most of the scientists are reluctant advocates of these ideas, and all believe we should be cutting down on our use of fossil fuels to heat our homes and drive our cars.
But is time running out for planet earth?
Although these ideas might have unknown side effects, some scientists believe we may soon have no choice but to put these radical and controversial plans into action.

Hole in the Ozone layer
Crutzen is best known for his research on ozone depletion. He lists his main research interests as Stratospheric and tropospheric chemistry, and their role in the biogeochemical cycles and climate. He currently works at the Department of Atmospheric Chemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, in Mainz, Germany and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California.
1995: Nobel Prize in Chemistry (with Dr. M. Molina and Dr. F. S. Rowland, U.S.A.)
Professor Paul Crutzen, who won a Nobel Prize in 1995 for his work on the hole in the ozone layer, believes that political attempts to limit man-made greenhouse gases are so pitiful that a radical contingency plan is needed.
